Belt or screw conveyors are used to move wet or dry solids material that are not easily pumped, such as primary grit, screenings, dewatered cake, and other treatment plant solids.

Belt conveyors range in width from 35 to 150 cm. The smallest belt conveyors accommodate capacities up to 76 kg/s (300 ton/hr), travelling at speeds up to 100m/min. the largest belt conveyors operate at speeds of up to 200m/min, handling capacities up to 1135 kg/s (4500 ton/hr). Belt conveyors can travel long distances at high speeds and are also appropriate for short distances and small capacities.

Screw conveyors are particularly well suited to transporting dried materials and are available on shafted and shaftless or centerless varieties. Standard screw conveyor sizes range from 150 mm to 600 mm in diameter. Screw conveyors are installed horizontally or at inclines of less than 45°. New designs of shaftless screw conveyors can be used to convey dried solids vertically.
