The Spill Control System is a secure reliable hydrocarbon spill management system. The float actuated shut-off valve stops flow through the system when maximum hydrocarbon storage capacity is reached, preventing the discharge of free hydrocarbons downstream. The float of the Spill Control System is finely balanced so that it floats in water, but sinks in liquids with a specific gravity less than 0.95, hence if a spill occurs the float will sink closing off the valve at the inlet which can hold up to 5m of head.
