| Dredges are used to collect the settled solids or sludge which accumulate in the settling basins of waste water installations. A major recent development is the introduction of portable dredges which can be used flexibly to cover a series of basins. The dredges traverse the settling basins by winching themselves along cables attached to steel platforms at both ends of each basin. | ||
